FTI Consulting, Inc. (NYSE: FCN), a premier provider of problem-solving consulting and technology services to major corporations, financial institutions and law firms, today announced that Andrew (Andy) D. Weissman has joined the company’s Economic Consulting practice as a senior managing director in its Washington DC office.
Mr. Weissman is nationally recognized as an expert on the imbalance between natural gas supply and demand of natural gas and its likely impact on fuels markets and market participants over the remainder of this decade. His subscription newsletter, Energy Business Watch, provides clients – energy companies, energy consumers, traders and hedge funds – with critical, timely industry updates on supply and pricing issues for the natural gas and oil markets. In 2002, his pioneering work identified the roots of the current natural gas and oil price run-up. Since then, he has accurately forecasted natural gas and oil supply and demand trends that have resulted in the doubling of energy prices in the past three years.
Commenting on the new appointment, Dominic DiNapoli, FTI’s chief operating officer, said, “Having Andy join FTI is considered an undisputed coup. His remarkable reputation for fuels price forecasting is unsurpassed in the industry and will be an important ingredient of FTI’s expanding commitment to help corporate clients address the dramatic changes in the energy markets. We welcome him to the growing FTI team serving clients throughout the energy industry.”
“I am excited about joining FTI, “Mr. Weissman said. “FTI’s experience, capabilities and bench strength in all facets of the energy business will allow us to help clients navigate through the treacherous energy shoals over the next few years.”
Mr. Weissman has a 30 year track record of success as a lawyer, consultant and corporate advisor in the energy industry. Before joining FTI Consulting, Mr. Weissman was founder and chairman of Energy Ventures Group, LLC, an investment management and consulting firm based in Washington, DC. In this role, he published EnergyBusinessWatch.com, a coveted in-depth industry subscription newsletter about the North American natural gas and oil markets. Mr. Weissman was also a founding member and driving force behind the development of Swidler & Berlin, LLC, a law firm based in Washington, DC and New York specializing in energy law and telecommunications. He played a pivotal role in helping to expand the firm from a small 13-attorney boutique to one of the 100 largest and most profitable law firms in the US. Subsequently, he headed the Energy Practice Group in the Washington, DC office of Morrison & Foerster, LLP, one of the twenty largest law firms in the country.
Mr. Weissman is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, the Bar of the US Supreme Court and Bar of the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit Court. He also has served as chairman of the Federal Energy Bar Association’s Committee on Legislation and Regulatory Reform. Mr. Weissman received a BA with High Distinction from the University of Michigan and a JD cum laude from Harvard Law School.
